The Sunrise Center for Excellence in Chess is offering chess instruction for students in East Sunrise on Tuesday evenings from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The class is open to all students in Grades 4-12 and to all levels of play. Beginning on January 30, NSCF Senior Instructor Robert McKenzie will offer a 8-week class featuring lectures, chess problem-solving, fun games and competitive play. The class is free for Sunrise residents.
Please note: This is a class. Please sign up only if you are committed to attending every week. We understand sometimes something will happen that changes this, but the classes are built so that there is a progression to the instruction so that the kids actually see improvement in their chess ability and in their understanding of how chess relates to other academics and life activities.
If you just want to play chess as a fun activity, come to the Open Play, also at Village Multipurpose Center (City Park Gym), on Saturdays from 12:30 to 2:00 pm.
